Common Gut Health Questions Answered
Gut health is a topic that comes with a lot of questions. Every day, people ask me about testing, symptoms, diets, and whether gut health is really the answer to their struggles.
So, let’s go through some of the most common questions I get and break them down.
Should I Do Stool Testing?
I’m not totally against it, but I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I ordered one. Many people come to us afterspending time and money on stool testing, only to find it didn’t help them move forward.
Stool tests can tell you what’s there in that moment, but they don’t explain why your gut is struggling or give you a long-term solution. Instead of chasing specific bacteria or pathogens, the focus should be on restoring balance so the gut can function properly on its own.
Is My Condition Related to Gut Health?
Short answer: YES.
The gut is deeply connected to every system in the body. Whether it’s skin conditions, autoimmune issues, hormone imbalances, mental health struggles, or chronic fatigue, gut health plays a role.
That doesn’t mean it’s the only factor, but it’s always part of the bigger picture. You can’t separate gut health from the rest of the body—everything is interconnected.
Should I Do Food Intolerance Testing?
This one is a no from me.
Food intolerances aren’t the root problem—they’re symptoms of an unhealthy gut. If your gut lining is damaged and your digestive function is impaired, your body will react to foods it never had trouble with before. Simply eliminating those foods might bring temporary relief, but it doesn’t fix the real issue.
The goal isn’t to keep removing foods—it’s to heal the gut so your body can tolerate and digest food properly again.
What If I Have Histamine Intolerance?
Histamine intolerance can be frustrating, and many people assume that if they struggle with it, they can’t do GAPS, drink meat stock, or eat fermented foods. But that’s not true!
Histamine issues don’t appear out of nowhere—they’re a sign of deeper gut and immune dysfunction. Instead of avoiding all histamine-rich foods forever, the focus should be on healing the gut, supporting detox pathways, and restoring balance so your body can regulate histamine properly again.
Should I Do a Parasite Cleanse?
This is a big one! I see so many people jump into aggressive parasite cleanses, only to end up feeling worse.
Here’s the thing—parasites don’t just show up randomly. They thrive in an inflamed, toxic, and imbalanced system. If you only focus on killing them without addressing why they’re there in the first place, the problem will keep coming back.
Many people come to us after parasite cleanses, feeling sicker than before. The key is to heal the gut first, support the detox pathways, and create an environment where parasites can’t thrive—so they clear out naturally and stay gone.
Will Gut Health Improve My Hormones?
Yes—absolutely!
Your gut plays a huge role in hormone balance. It helps produce, convert, and detoxify hormones, meaning that if your gut is inflamed or sluggish, your hormones will be out of whack too.
Common signs that gut issues are affecting your hormones include:
✔️ PMS & period problems
✔️ Stubborn weight gain
✔️ Fatigue & burnout
✔️ Mood swings & anxiety
✔️ Thyroid imbalances
When digestion improves, inflammation lowers, and your body starts absorbing the nutrients it needs, your hormones will naturally start balancing themselves out.
By addressing gut health, so many other symptoms start to improve. From skin and digestion to energy and hormones, the gut is the foundation of overall health. If you've been dealing with ongoing symptoms and haven’t looked at gut healing as part of the solution, this is your sign to start.
