Braised brassicas = detox

Endometriosis is one oestrogen-dominant condition that affects women. If you have endometriosis, high levels of oestrogen can trigger inflammation and symptoms like severe pain. Vegetables from the Brassica family (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts) contain a specific phytochemical that improves oestrogen detoxification in our bodies. By adding just 500g/day of broccoli to your diet, your rate of oestrogen detoxification is significantly improved!

Ingredients:

500g Brussel sprouts halved or broccoli florets or mixture of brassicas

5 garlic cloves, finely chopped

4 slices of nitrate free bacon, chopped 1-2 tbsp fat melted (ghee, lard, tallow, coconut oil, duck fat)

Himalayan sea salt to taste

Kraut juice/olive oil (optional)

Method:

Heat fat in a large heavy based frypan over medium heat.

Add chopped bacon and cook until lightly brown.

Add garlic and cook for 10-20 seconds (just long enough for it to become fragrant).

Add your brassicas to the frypan and sauté until they are al-dente.

Remove from the pan and drizzle with olive oil and kraut juice and sprinkle with salt to finish.

Braised Brassicas is an amazing side dish to complement any meal or a quick meal in itself!!
